Status holders
As of 2020, control of integration will be placed back in the hands of the municipalities, so status holders will no longer have to organise integration themselves. The loan system, among other things, will be abolished. However, it remains the responsibility of status holders to meet their integration obligation within three years.
It is important that status holders start work as soon as possible, by means of a work placement, for example. Once they are at work, they will also learn the language faster. To allow status holders to integrate and participate better and more quickly, we believe in a parallel approach where the focus is on both learning the language and gaining work skills to increase the (economic) independence of this target group.
Through Inburgeren Werkt, a status holder can gain between 8 and 24 hours a week of work experience for 9 months at a company of their choice while still receiving benefits and, at the same time, learn Dutch faster in everyday use. This will increase and improve their opportunities on the labour market.
Depending on the personal Plan for Integration and Participation (PIP), the client manager can decide to deviate from the number of hours per week and the duration of the work placement period. During this period, he/she will develop competencies and skills that are important in the labour market. A progress review takes place every three months to discuss the progress made. The client manager, the training company and the status holder attend this meeting. At the end, the status holder receives a certificate for completing the work experience placement!
